Summer Volunteer Opportunities
Looking for a service project this summer? Check out the GSCSC's
Service Announcements page as well as HumanCorps'
database of volunteer opportunities. If you're a GSCSC member and want to arrange a carpool to/from a service project, post an announcement on the
SmartSite.
WoWSA 2008
Registration for the Week of Welcome Service Activity (WoWSA) is
now open! WoWSA and all other Week of Orientation and Welcome (WOW)
events are open to new graduate students, continuing graduate students,
postdocs, faculty, and staff.
Sign up at the WOW website.
Be sure to check the WoWSA box; we are listed under "Saturday" because
the volunteer appreciation lunch will be that day. However, service
projects will take place every day from September 17-20, so there's
sure to be a project that will fit your schedule. Contact the WoWSA
Event Directors at
wowsa-directors at-ucdavis.edu if you have any questions. Keep track of all the WoWSA
developments
here.
Congratulations, GSCSC: Community Service Award Winners!

here. We'll restart meetings next September. Have a great summer!
Ongoing Online Service OpportunityOur local chapter of Habitat for Humanity (Habitat for Humanity of Yolo County) is
registered with GoodSearch
- a Yahoo!-based search engine that generates a donation for a charity
every time you do a search. To credit your
searches to Habitat
for Humanity, simply follow
this link. Then, search for whatever else you want! It's a quick,
easy way to support this group with much-needed funding. Each search generates 1 cent for the organization, but
a lot of
people doing a lot of searching makes the totals add up quickly.

GSCSC Mission
The Graduate Student Community Service Committee (GSCSC)
is dedicated to encouraging graduate students to play an active role in their
community through service. The committee provides opportunities for these
students to contribute on many levels including providing service education and
service projects for graduate students. The committee does help students find
out about on-going service opportunities and sponsors monthly service projects.
